Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
